Dorian Selz, CEO and Co-Founder of Squirro, has been a guest on the Knowledge Cast podcast. He and Joe Hilger, COO of Enterprise Knowledge, talk about Squirro and its place in knowledge management and enterprise search as well as developments and trends in these areas.
One important transition that has taken place in the last 20 years is the move from search to insight. Supplementing search with context allows for bringing tailored information directly to the user, instead of the user poking in the dark.
Insight Engine, Anyone?
Dorian and Joe also discuss that most companies would benefit from setting up a cognitive search infrastructure and how adding an insight software to all departments will become more and more important in the future.
But the apparent benefits don’t mean that enterprise search has been widely embraced in the work market. Dorian notices that there is still a reluctance to its adoption on the market. He also observes that artificial intelligence and machine learning augment its performance and offer great potential for this emerging technology.
The Future Is Bright for Enterprise Search
One important value that enterprise search provides is that it helps its users stay on top of the market, even when things – like investments or deals – don’t go quite as planned. In addition, Dorian points out that there’s a huge potential for enterprise search as a whole, and that many exciting projects are already underway.
